Blog Tune Up, #Random Fun Stuff, & Pretty Pictures
This whirl of sponsored posts* and opportunities grown from this blog has gotten me thinking about how I run things over here. I am lucky in that I never have a dearth of good ideas. I am and always will be the idea girl. Here are some changes I've made and will make. And some random fun stuff, just for kicks.

Reflection on Fashion of This Decade
These past five years, I haven't seen any pervasive style in fashion (off the runway, on the street) that defines this decade. In the early 2000's we had all the white, silver, and black vinyl, but that was really just late nineties spillover. Here's a list of videos that show what I'm talking about:
Millenial Videos
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F-w0-agVE8g&NR=1 - He Wasn't Man Enough For Me
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R1zyaNcuyU4&NR=1 - It's Not Right But It's OK
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Av7m_Pgt1S8 - No Scrubs
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P4PFClnMkOU - What's It Gonna Be?http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sK0DjYE-GVA - If You Had My Love
You might be saying- 'Uh, hello, Cami? What about DIY!?' I'm thinking about it, but is it pervasive in popular culture, not just on the fringes where we revel?
I've noticed some little things like the really cool T-Shirts with necklaces or other intricate designs printed on them. Also big stores are carrying shirts with embroidery and reverse applique. But I don't think that T-shirts alone constitute the style of a decade.
Am I missing something? Open my eyes, please!
PS- Deliver us from all skinny jeans.

Save Handmade

The Consumer Products Safety Improvement Act will force all toy-makers, even independent crafters with excellent reputations, to prove that their toys are non-toxic by expensive third-party auditing.
"We're all for strengthening the safety standards of mass-produced toys, clothes, and accessories made in China, and banning toxins like phthalates and lead. But this year, congress passed the ill-conceived Consumer Products Safety Improvement Act, a law which goes into effect in two months and will absolutely decimate the small toy manufacturers, independent artisans, and crafters who have already earned the public trust."
