Back to Basics!

For fun and nostalgia, I picked up a Spirograph set at my local art store last week. It's marketed as a "hypotrochoid art set," which sounds so mathematical. :o) Me like math! According
Wolfram Mathworld!, the elegant hypotrochoid is "a roulette traced by a point P attached to a circle of radius b rolling around the inside of a fixed circle of radius a, where P is a distance h from the center of the interior circle."

I did a little card last night while sitting in front of the TV. I loved the background paper I created with the spirograph and I decided that it needed some glitter.

In keeping with the old school flavor, I used good ol' Elmer's glue and big, flaky glitter. Hmmm. Do you like the results?

The set is cute, portable, fun, quick, and satisfying. There are so many different options and combinations. I have just touched the tip of the iceberg. I want to see if I can find a pen that would let me emboss these images!

The set comes with three pens (red, blue, and green), two gear-frame thingies, and three different gear circles for drawing fun!

It's put forth by Natural Products Worldwide.

Next stop: Fractals???

Yay math!
